In what’s being dubbed a “landmark” appearance, President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama will take to “The Oprah Show” stage tomorrow (Monday, May 2, 2011).
Counting down the final days of her critically acclaimed program, Oprah is excited about the Obamas, with whom she has spent time previously, appearing on her daytime TV talk show.
“Never in 25 years have we ever welcomed a sitting president and a first lady,” Oprah said proudly in a video clip from her website. Both the Obamas and Oprah consider the city of Chicago “home.”
Oprah is expected to get up close and personal with the Obamas, asking them questions such as “What do you know for sure about marriage?” as well as about Obama being a basketball coach, the best moment that they have shared together as a family, Republicans they admire and what they want their legacy to be in history.
In light of the recent events regarding the killing of Osama Bin Laden, “The Oprah Show” may experience interruption. I hope not. It would be poetic justice for the Obamas’ interview to air today. –arnell pharr
