As most people know, sitting on the couch of “The Oprah Winfrey Show” is a dream moment for most celebrities and when the media mogul calls, these celebrities know well enough to come running. And when Jennifer Hudson showed up late to a taping of the show earlier this year, word got out that host Oprah Winfrey was none too pleased with the singer. Now, months after the incident, Winfrey is now opening up and sharing her side of the story about Hudson’s tardiness.
The drama began in February when Hudson appeared on an episode of the show. After having attended a sound check for the taping, Hudson flew to Texas for a gig. However, due to a severe snowfall, Hudson was delayed in returning to Chicago the next morning, forcing Winfrey, her staff and the audience to wait for the singer.
As Winfrey explained in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, everyone on set, including the mogul herself, was upset with Hudson, which made for a tense scene while shooting footage for the OWN reality show “Oprah Behind the Scenes.”
“That was a lot of high drama because we’ve never been stood up before,” said the OWN network creator. “There were a lot of people saying a lot of things. Everybody was mad. I wanted to make sure that there was not one single thing in that episode that had anything to do with us being mad or upset in that moment. It was dramatic. Nobody has ever not shown up, ever. Especially if they were here the night before.”
