Nicki Minaj is gearing up for a stint on Britney Spears highly anticipated “Femme Fatale” tour. And while the singer has shocked audiences in the past with her wild outfits and sexual props (a strategically placed dildo), Minaj is promising that on the Spears tour she’ll deliver even “more theater” than before.
While backstage at Sunday’s 2011 MTV Movie Awards, Minaj spoke with MTV News about the tour and explained that she and Spears will soon come together to hash out plans for the tour.
“We probably won’t start talking about what we’re planning for another couple days,” Minaj said. “I’ve been just rehearsing, and she’s been rehearsing, and we’ll be getting together in a couple days.”
While nothing’s set in stone just yet for the upcoming show, Minaj explains that she’s still learning her way around a stage and assures that this time around, she’s turning up the volume on the head-turning theatrics.
“I’m just trying to put more theater on that stage. So much to me is music, but it’s also about putting on a show, so that’s my goal: to truly put on a show and incorporate theater and dance,” Minaj said. “I think it’s pretty easy to take it to the next level … I think I’m nowhere close to where I could be as far as my shows have been. So I think it’s going to be pretty easy, actually.”
Besides her upcoming tour with Spears, Minaj also discussed the future of her already bright rapping career and explained that she hopes to switch gears and retire as an accomplished actress.
“That’s what I want to do with my life, I want to retire as an actress. I love acting, I studied acting, so, of course, yeah, I’d love to,” said Minaj, adding, “I’d like to do a Will Smith movie. I was actually watching Bad Boys and I was like, ‘Hmm, that would be dope to be in, you know, an action-packed movie that’s also funny.’ ”
Who else would the animated rapper like to work with? None other than eccentric filmmaker, Tim Burton.
“I just love his imagination. I’d love to work with him,” gushed Minaj.
