Darrin Henson and R.L. of Next to Face Off in Celebrity Boxing Match

Darrin Henson (Stomp The Yard, Soul Food) and R.L. (lead singer of Next) will be throwing punches tonight at Center Stage in Atlanta for a good cause. Henson and R.L. teamed up with the Luxe Group to raise money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Georgia Amateur Boxing Association, Dreammakers Youth Foundation and Retired Boxers Foundation.

The event will be hosted by Kenny Burns, and DJ Infamous will be spinning on the ones and twos. On June 8, Henson and R.L. participated in a weigh-in that was held at Shout. After the weigh-in, Henson spoke with rolling out about the importance of Celebrity Fight Night and giving back.

“It’s important that we acknowledge the necessity to give back,” he said. “Charitable events are very important because, if we don’t step up to help out other people of color, we’re waiting for the wind to blow and someone else to do it. This event is more than a boxing match. We’re here to help save lives.” –a.r.
