Jermaine Dupri and singer Taio Cruz are no strangers to making hit records. While Dupri has crafted hits for the likes of Mariah Carey, Usher and Monica, Cruz has launched a slew of hit pop-dance tracks over the last year. So it comes as no surprise that the two will now serve as a judge’s on Bravo’s new reality show competition “Platinum Hit.”
According to hiphopdx.com, Dupri and Cruz are just a few of the celebrity judges who will serve on the show’s rotating panel of judges. Other stars set to judge the show include Leona Lewis, Donna Summer and Natasha Bedingfield.
The 10-episode show, hosted by former “American Idol” judge Kara DioGaurdi and veteran singer-songwriter Jewel, premiered last night, bringing together 12 aspiring songwriters to compete for a deal with Sony’s Jive/RCA. The songwriters will take a different songwriting challenge each week and at times collaborate with each other to complete the songs, an aspect which Jewel says will be one of the most entertaining parts of the show.
“Collaborations are essential to the show,” said Jewel. “It’s a battle of ideas to a complete song. The awkward moments that [arise during the collaborative process] are essential to making it watchable.”
