Facebook is in your business and you may not have been aware. The social networking service has a record of all the phone numbers that are stored in your mobile phone and they’re posted alongside the names of all your Facebook friends as well as non-Facebook associated individuals on your contact list. What’s done with the information or if others can access it remains to be seen, but it’s definitely there.
Here’s how to take a look:
1. Go to the top right of the screen and click on ACCOUNT.
2. Click on EDIT FRIENDS
3. Go to the left side of screen and click CONTACTS. You will see all phone numbers (FB friends or not) are published that you have stored in your mobile phone.
Here’s how to remove them:
1. Go to right column and click on “this page.” You will then find removal instructions from there.
We don’t want to fuel the flames of any conspiracy theories or cause alarm where none is required, so once it’s determined how and why the numbers end up there, this post will be updated. For now, for the sake of caution and privacy, you have the option of removing them if it makes you uncomfortable.
