Boxing fans may have been disappointed with the controversial Mayweather-Ortiz fight, this past weekend, but music fans got a bit of a shock when rapper Fabolous and singer Ray J allegedly got into a heated clash at the Palm Springs hotel in Las Vegas.
According to MTV’s “RapFix,” a Bossip report claims that the trouble started after Fabolous made a joke about Ray J’s appearance in a recent episode of HBO’s “24/7,”documenting Floyd Mayweather’s time preparing for his fight with Victor Ortiz. In the show, Ray J is seen playing the piano in Mayweather’s living room as he sings his song, “One Wish.”
Finding the scene amusing, Fabolous tweeted, “Nah but Floyd saying we havin a concert in my living room & the camera cuts to Ray J singing ‘One Wish’ on the piano had me in tears!!” tweeted Fabolous, adding, “Get it..? Ray J concert in the living room!! *Lil Wayne voice*”
Unfortunately, Ray J didn’t take too kindly to Fabolous’ jokes. Just before a performance at the Palm Springs, Fabolous ran into Ray J backstage and a fight allegedly ensued after an enraged Ray J punched Fabolous in the face.
According to eyewitnesses, unlike Mayweather, Ray J’s sucker punch failed to do him any favors as Fabolous allegedly bested Ray J in the fight, which was also witnessed by 50 Cent and Mayweather, whom Ray J refers to as members of the “Money Team,” as well as Diddy and Kevin Hart. After the fight was broken up, Ray J was kicked out of the hotel and later detained by Las Vegas police.
Adding fuel to the fire, on Sept. 19, Ray J called into New York City’s Power 105 “Breakfast Club” show and denied claims that he was beaten up as he proceeded to berate Fabolous.
“Ni–as sayin Ray J got beat up? I’ll sock that ni–a in his face again, my ni–a.” said Ray J. “All I’m saying if you got Fabs number tell that ni–a to send a picture of his face right now.”
“Don’t disrespect me and Floyd like that. I play piano on that muthaf–kin piano every day, that’s my big brother, ni–a, we grew up together. So if you think that I just came over there and sang a song, ni–a, you got me twisted. Ni–a I’m over there every day.”
Later in the day, though, Fabolous called in to DJ Clue’s Power 105 evening show and slammed Ray J as he dismissed his threats.
“Who called in, Tupac?” Fab joked. “Tupac called in? That wasn’t Ray J. You can’t be serious. That wasn’t Ray J. That wasn’t him. That wasn’t Willy Norwood Jr. That wasn’t him. That wasn’t Brandy’s brother.”
According to Fab, Ray J did angrily confront him about the tweet, prompting the Brooklyn, N.Y., rapper to snatch him up by his red hoodie, but no fight occurred.
“It was no fight, it was no swing,” Fab maintains. “This whole story that he made up, that Tupac rant about him swinging on somebody and all of that s–t is all lies. It’s all, high on coke, on that Whitney. That’s all on that Whitney last night. Ain’t no swings take place. You can ask the Money Team. The Money Team was standing right there. Ask the Money Team that he’s probably the water boy for.”
Despite his continuous jabs at Ray J, Fabolous contended that he doesn’t have any beef with the reality star. And though Ray J may still be sour about Fabolous’ persistent jabs, earlier this morning, he took to Twitter to apologize to his fans for his angry radio tirade.
“I want to apology to my fans that might have been offended by the things I said on today’s radio interview,” tweeted Ray J. “I lost control.” –nicholas robinson
