Retired NFL star Deion Sanders recently found himself to be the latest victim of a celebrity marriage scandal. Over the weekend, reports hit the Web claiming that Sanders had filed for divorce from his wife of 11 years, Pilar Sanders, blaming their marriage’s demise on her reality show career. Now, Sanders is speaking out against the claims.
According to initial reports, Sanders alleged that Pilar, a former video model and a star on VH1’s “Football Wives,” had become too much to handle as a result of her reality TV career.
“Enough is enough. I never signed up for all this. Enough is enough,” said Sanders. “If I wanted a model or a television star I would have married one a long time ago. All I wanted was a housewife.”
Ironically, Sanders and Pilar starred together in a reality show about their marriage titled “Prime Time Love.”
The report comes just weeks after Sanders was accused of cheating on Pilar with a 19-year-old woman he met on Twitter.
Shortly after the announcement, Pilar released a statement to “Hello Beautiful,” expressing her sadness over the news.
“It’s unfortunate that my husband decided to take this course of action … I’m surprised and hurt … As I said to my children, we must take a minute [to] breathe and trust God,” said Pilar.
Strangely enough, however, Sanders recently took to Twitter to deny the claims of a divorce.
“Ladies and gentlemen I never address IGNORANCE but I must at this point. I’ve never filed 4 divorce and hadn’t made a statement to ANY media,” tweeted Sanders, adding, “When we start viewing, relying and believing gossip sites for information it says alot [sic] about oneself! God bless u all, Live, Love and Laugh!”
Apparently, everything is great in the Sanders household and maybe Pilar just hasn’t gotten the memo yet. Nevertheless, it looks like Sanders will remain a married man for now. –nicholas robinson
