Delonte West Tweets About Humbling New Job as NBA Lockout Continues, Sets Good Example

Delonte West and other NBA players should be preparing for the 2011-12 NBA season, but as NBA owners bicker with players over a salary cap, the lockout continues and could put the entire NBA season in jeopardy.

West has decided to remain active by finding employment at Regency Furniture Showrooms in Maryland.

West filled out an application and was hired a few days ago. He posted several pictures of Regency Furniture Showrooms to his Twitter account. Apparently, the furniture store was the only company to hire him. In August, West tweeted that he would be applying at Home Depot and told a sports reporter that he applied to Sam’s Club.

During the NFL lockout, several players took jobs outside of their profession. Marcell Dareus worked in lawn service, while David Bruton taught high school math – both humbling moves in view of the salaries they stand to make as NBA ballers. This should serve as a lesson to the scores of job seekers out there who may feel too proud to take something “different” until a better door opens.  #goodexamplessetters
