Beyoncé’s Team Strikes Back About Fake Baby Bump Accusations

Beyonce’s team strikes back.

It seemed like the whole world did a double take earlier this week when superstar mom-to-be Beyoncé appeared on an Australian television program and her pregnant belly seemed to deflate in front of the cameras, sending suspicious fans into a frenzy as claims spread that the singer is faking her pregnancy. Now, Beyoncé’s rep is coming to the defense of her typically-private client and denying the fake baby bump accusations.

In a brief statement sent to ABC News, Beyoncé’s publicist, Yvette Noel-Schure, addressed the claims that the singer is wearing a prosthetic baby bump, simply calling them “stupid, ridiculous and false.”

Though false talk of her pregnancy may not sit well with Beyoncé and her camp, she recently explained to Harper’s Bazaar that she’s reached a point in life where she’s no longer concerned with criticism.

“I am finally at the stage in my life where I am not so concerned with other people’s opinions about my life decisions. It is so liberating to really know what I want, what truly makes me happy, what I will not tolerate. I have learned that it is no one else’s job to take care of me, but me.”

Though it’s not necessarily unusual for celebrities to pull schemes to bolster their star power or redefine their image, admittedly, a fake baby bump plot is a bit of a risky and far-fetched plan for a superstar like Beyoncé with so much to lose. –nicholas robinson
