“The Wire” Alumni Wood Harris and Jamie Hector Reunite in New Film, Joy Road which  hits theaters on Friday, Oct. 21

Coming to theaters this weekend is a new urban crime drama starring Wood Harris and Jamie Hector of the critically acclaimed HBO series ‘The Wire’.

Directed by Harry Davis (Gangstresses), Joy Road centers on Tony Small (Harris) a rising star defense attorney who’s forced to take on the case of his sister’s thug boyfriend, ‘Big Boy’ (played by rapper Christian ‘Trick-Trick’ Matthis) — who stands accused of murder. Set in Detroit, the movie explores one man’s battle between the comfortable middle class life he’s been afforded and the rough neighborhood he thought he left behind.

The film also stars Obba Babbatunde, N’Bushe Wright and Roger Guenveur Smith. An underlying message of the film is a critical look at the U.S. prison system and who (or what) stands to profit from it.

Joy Road debuts this week in seven major cities, including Detroit (where the film was also shot), Atlanta, Chicago, Cleveland, DC, Philadelphia and St. Louis. For a listing of theaters, visit www.joyroadmovie.com.
