According to Rap-Up, the Twitter fiasco occurred last week when one of Cher’s fans mistakenly tweeted her that Minaj dissed her on her Pink Friday song “Did It On ‘Em,” in which she raps, “If you could turn back time, Cher/ You used to be here, now you’re gone, Nair.”
Cher responded by saying, “Ive seen lots of people come & go! No Biggie!”
Once word got around about Cher’s jab, Minaj fans were in an uproar, including her assistant and alleged boyfriend, Safaree, who went on the defense and warned Cher to investigate any allegations before she mistakenly attacks people.
“yo @cher listen to the words b4 you say dumb shit on twitter… do you know what a rap metaphore is??? TM is a cult you dont want it with!!” tweeted Scaff Breezy.
Once the 65-year-old entertainer realized her mistake, she apologized for her diss,
“U R right ! Someone said I was dissed … I’ve been dissed b4,but instead of finding out I just got defensive ! I should know better ! Dumb,” tweeted Cher before deleting the previous tweet.
However, irate Minaj fans continued to criticize Cher, prompting the singer to defend herself and again admit her mistake.
“What does that say about me? Insecure? Want 2b understood? What?” tweeted Cher before telling an angry Minaj fan, “Gimme a fkn break! Said I was dumb!”
Minaj herself didn’t chime in until the end of the Twitter fiasco, simply telling Cher to “#stopit5.”
Luckily, this Twitter fiasco never really turned into a full-blown Twitter beef and all of the tweets have been deleted, but here are six other major Twitter beefs that made headlines and hashtags. –nicholas robinson
