After the demise of the turbulent 14-year marriage in 2007, exes Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown found themselves in a custody battle over their daughter, Bobbi Kristina. Though both had a drug-riddled past, Whitney claimed that Bobby was an “unreliable” parent. Bobby denied Whitney’s claims, but admitted that he was so broke that he couldn’t afford a lawyer. Whitney eventually won full custody of their daughter and in the years following their divorce, the singer has accused Brown of being both physically and verbally abusive.
