There was not a empty seat in the house at the private screening of Joyful Noise held last night at Regal Cinemas in Atlantic Station. Many moviegoers came out to get a sneak peek of this most anticipated film produced by Queen Latifah. Grammy-winner Dolly Parton and Oscar-winner Queen Latfiah star in Alcon Entertainment’s and Warner Bros Pictures, Joyful Noise. It’s an inspirational story of love, hope and forgiveness set to a backdrop of marvelous music.
The movie takes place in a small town in Georgia that has fallen on hard times. Queen Latifah plays the role of Vi Rose Hill, a woman who suddenly becomes a choir director at Divinity Church. She has to try to lead the choir in winning the National Joyful Noise Competition. Dolly Parton who plays G.G. Sparrow (another choir member) and Vi don’t get along. Other celebrities appearing in the movie include Courtney B.Vance, Keke Palmer, Kirk Franklin and a host of others.
After the movie, KeKe Palmer, Kirk Franklin and a few other cast members conducted a Q&A session with the audience. Keke talked about her role, singing in the movie and how fun it was to work with the casts. Kirk Franklin said it was a great experience. I went around the room and did a quick survey of people asking what they thought of the movie. Out of 10 people I chatted with, 8 people loved the movie and said it was very uplifting. At the screening a few lucky participants received the film’s soundtrack. I will give my personal review on the movie after it comes out next Friday, Jan. 13. Enjoy the pictures!
