Vivian Pickard, president of the General Motors Foundation and director of community relations for GM:

As the Flint, Mich., native has traveled to such diverse places as the NAACP Image Awards in Los Angeles, the 100 Black Men Convention in San Francisco, the RainbowPUSH conference in Chicago and the Martin Luther King Memorial celebration in Washington DC — all in 2011 alone — she is always seen doing two things: leading and giving. Pickard and GM invest tens of millions of dollars annually in urban organizations and uplifting causes nationwide.

Pickard ensures that the mammoth automaker remains inextricably intertwined within the fabric of the community in four key areas:  education, environment and energy, economic empowerment and human services.
