Beastie Boys
In 1997, the Beastie Boys were sued for copyright infringement by jazz flutist James Newton, who claimed that the hip-hop trio illegally sampled his 1978 recording, “Choir,” for their 1992 song, “Pass The Mic.” After years of legal battling, The Supreme Court dismissed the lawsuit in 2005.
