9. River Phoenix, 1970-1993
The 23-year-old actor was partying in Johnny s Depp s club, the Viper Room in Los Angeles. Moments before he planned to perform with his bestie Flea, from the group the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Phoenix joined pals in the bathroom and took a speedball, a mixture of cocaine and heroin. River Phoenix emerged from the bathroom and then died from a massive heart attack.
River Phoenix was the older brother of actor Joaquin Phoenix.
