Michelle Obama is covering a special edition of Ebony magazine, celebrating the publication’s Mother’s Day issue.

In the article, the first lady talks about being the mother of Sasha and Malia Obama and dishes on the benefits of having her mother live with her in the White House.

“Barack and I feel that our greatest responsibility is to raise two productive, respectful, kind, empathetic young women,” she said. “My husband talks to our girls about how he expects men in their lives to treat them, and he offers examples by how he treats me and how he treats them.”

Speaking of her own mother, Marian Robinson, she noted that she and the president can count on her to be there to pick up the girls from school and go to sporting events when their schedules get too busy. She also praises her for just being a companion.

“Anytime I need to go and plop on her couch and just talk, she’s always there,” she said.

Mrs. Obama’s issue of Ebony hits newsstands April 17.

Other famous moms profiled in the mag include: Tina Knowles, Solange and Beverly Johnson. Michelle Obama on the Cover of 'Ebony's' Mother's Day Issue
