CNN Correspondent Apologizes for Saying N-Word On-Air

A CNN correspondent issued an apology today after using a racial slur on-air that the network failed to bleep out. Susan Candiotti was reporting live from Oklahoma where Jake England, 19, and Alvin Watts, 32, have been arrested in connection with the shooting spree that left three people dead and two severely wounded.

All five of the victims are black and England and Watts are white, leading many to believe that the shootings were racially motivated.

While reporting on the situation, Candiotti quoted a status update on one of the suspect’s Facebook pages: “‘Today is two years that my dad has been gone, shot by and please excuse the language, it’s very sensitive. Shot by a f—ing n—–.'”

After her report, fellow correspondent Fredericka Whitfield apologized for Candiotti’s language. “We apologize to our viewers for such profanity being used on our air.” Candiotti later apologized for using the word.

Check out Candiotti’s report below. Was she wrong for not censoring herself?
