DMX and Ja Rule
Both of these multiplatinum rappers have a lot in common. They were both from New York, both affiliated with Def Jam, both hit the mainstream in 1998, both teamed with R&B sirens (Aaliyah and Ashanti) and both shared a trademark rough and bass-heavy rap voice. Though both were able to carve out their own successful niches in hip-hop, they’re style similarities remained undeniable.
