Most readers, including myself, were too young or not born when the King/Queen of Men in Drag made his appearance on the “Flip Wilson Show.” It was here that the formula was discovered that black men could find work, put white audiences at ease, make big money and score high ratings by playing a woman. Too bad that Wilson was been allowed to evaporate from memory as if he never existed when he opened doors for the aforementioned stars, and many more.
