Spelman College Kicks Off 8th Annual Women of Color Leadership Conference in Atlanta

The eighth annual Spelman College Women of Color Leadership Conference assembles top leaders to empower women to lead with intention, focus and authenticity. The two-day event will feature Lisa Price, founder of Carol’s Daughter, and multimedia personality Roland Martin, who will moderate a panel discussion with leading industry influencers on how social media can help shape your leadership brand.

On opening day, the Legacy of Leadership Awards Dinner themed: “Women Who Lead with Purpose” recognized outstanding women who have lead with the purpose of breaking down barriers. The 2012 honorees include Shinae Chun, former director, Women’s Bureau, U.S. Department of Labor; Evelyn Lowery, Founder, SCLC W.O.M.E.N.; Vivian Stringer, Women’s Basketball Coach, Rutgers University; and a special recognition for Monica Pearson, anchor, WSB-TV. Erin Coleman, anchor, WSB-TV served as the evening’s mistress of ceremony. –yvette caslin
