Allen Iverson was on his way to becoming the first gangsta/NBA rapper when he released his first single “40 Bars” in 2000. Iverson had the voice and lyrical ability to be respected by most prominent rap artists, but NBA commissioner was unimpressed with Iverson’s rhymes about guns, gangsters and sex.
