Knowles was educated at St. Mary’s Elementary School in Texas, where she enrolled in dance classes, including ballet and jazz. Her talent in singing was discovered when her dance instructor began humming a song and she finished it, hitting the high-pitch notes. Not longer after, lil’ Bey Bey entered into singing contests at her schools and blew away the competition to win first prize. At 7, her singing was so captivating that it got her press coverage inside the Houston Chronicle, of the largest newspapers in the country. A star was born.
