Beyoncé: The Black Millionaire Blueprint for Success

Beyoncé: The Black Millionaire Blueprint for Success

Now that Beyonce and her parents have discovered this prepubescent pearl’s love of singing and performing, the question was what kind of entertainer she wanted to be.

That was quickly solved when the impressionable Beyonce saw a video of a man walking and dancing on lighted sidewalks.

Queen Bey makes it very clear that, from the earliest age,  her number one musical and entertainment influence is none other than the King of Pop. “I remember seeing Michael Jackson for the first time. Lord knows I fell in love,” said Beyonce. “When I saw the video for “Billie Jean” for the first time, and the sidewalk lit up underneath his feet and he looked like our angel,” referring to how he captivated the world with his timeless videos while simultaneously breaking color barriers on MTV.

How ironic that not only did she use one of Mike’s earliest records to get Destiny Child’s own record deal, but, once she became a worldwide megastar, she was able to pay tribute to her idol before he passed away.

“Watching him I realized exactly what I wanted to be. He inspired me so much. As a matter of fact, the first song I performed with Destiny’s Child was a Jackson 5 song. It’s called “Where You Are,’” said Beyonce before launching into a groovy cover of the 1972 hit. Beyonce’s voice rang out over the crowd in a beautifully high soprano that did the King of Pop well.

“It’s the song we auditioned to get our record deal. It was the beginning of our future. I love you forever, Michael Jackson.”
