Chicago Crime Wave: Meet the Flash Mobsters

Black Chicago’s street organization founders Jeff Fort (Black P. Stone Nation) and Larry Hoover (Gangster Disciples) also have legacies that tout their viciousness as well as their love for the common man.

Members of the Black street organizations know and live what others refuse to publicly admit, that there are, in fact, two Chicagos; the well-to-do Gold Coast area and, then there’s everyplace else. Crime committed by Blacks were generally crimes committed on blacks, and the Gold Coast and other posh (read: well-policed) areas were avoided.

The Gold Coast’s wealth is evident from the fleet of hand-waxed exotic cars that cruise the neighborhood to the crush of models that crowd the street. This cushy part of town’s Neiman Marcus’ is now undergoing a major renovation following the remodel of Chanel, Gucci and Prada’s hard shops on the first floor.

Still, this past weekend, this little slice of Chicago heaven was invaded by a band of Black midnight marauders. Why did these Black flash mobsters select the Gold Coast? Because that’s where the money is.

Unlike the celebrity mobsters of yesteryear who dressed like pimps and used their notoriety to inspire fear and respect, the flash mobsters find their strength in numbers and facelessness.

Also, the flash mobsters have an advantage that no other crime syndicate could have ever imagined: Social media.

Social media networks allow flash mobsters to coordinate an organized group attack where victims are too stunned to understand what is happening to them and too confused to identify the culprits.

Imagine a storekeeper going about his daily duties when suddenly a pack of 20 or more people flood the showroom and dash out with stolen merchandise in under 60 seconds.

Or, even more terrifying, is what transpired over the weekend, when the 36-year-old Gold Coast pedestrian was accosted by a group of 20 flash mobsters who left him dazed, confused, and robbed.

Chicago Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy vows to protect the city. “Our reaction to it has been quick, it’s been swift and it’s been very effective,” McCarthy said during a press conference. “I don’t believe that it’s going to be something that we need to worry about long-term. We have to knock this out. We have to knock it out quickly — and that’s what we’re doing.”

McCarthy added: “We’re gonna find every one of `em. And we’re gonna prosecute and arrest every single one of ‘em … nobody should be afraid of this.”
