Kelly Owes Nearly $5 Million to Internal Revenue Service

R. Kelly has officially become the latest celeb to make headlines for tax troubles. Kelly, 45, is said to owe nearly $5 million in unpaid taxes to the IRS, reports TMZ. In detail the singer has debt stemming from 2005 when he failed to pay $1,472,366.77 to the federal government. Following that there was $710,520.51 owed in 2006 followed by $376,180.11 in 2007. In 2008? A mere $1,122,694.90 was owed but luckily that number reduced a great deal in 2009 to just a little under $174,000. Unfortunately for Kellz, that number reached an astronomical number again in 2010 and a reported $992, 495.24 was owed. With numbers like that looming around the pied piper, Kelly is said to be in damage control and actively working to settle his debt. A rep for the singer tells TMZ, “R. Kelly is in the process of working everything out with the government and is confident that all his obligations will be satisfied.”

Fortunately for Kelly he has a new album on the horizon to help his ease his tax woes, his Write Me Back album drops June 26.
