Wine and Wineries: The Best of the Midwest

Sixty miles east of Cleveland along Lake Erie is Ohio’s largest grape growing area hiding amid old-fashioned covered bridges and charming shore towns. A must-do are the cellars at Harpersfield Vineyard in Geneva — they are a dead ringer for those in France’s Burgundy region. Sample wines, freshly baked bread and imported cheese in the tasting room. If you’re not up to driving after all that wine, bordering Geneva vineyards is the historic Polly Harper Inn Bed and Breakfast has spacious bedrooms, including one with a staircase to the Polly Harper Tower.
