You make songs that are street-inspired, but they still cater to women. What makes the perfect woman to you?
Personality plays a lot for women. When you meet so many [women], you look for personality. You always find pretty faces. Beauty [can’t be] defined [solely by] looks anymore when you have seen so many women. It’s personality, your smile, your walk … some girls walk looking like they want attention,
You have seen what goes on the streets and we hear those emotions on the song “Permanent Scar.” What would say to young black males who are caught up in street life?
So much comes with the lifestyle. You’ve got to live by faith. You’ve got to take certain words out of your vocabulary because it’s bad. I always speak things into existence. Words are powerful. You’ve just got to live your life and be positive every single day. I don’t care what you’re going through. Keep a positive head because sometimes you may wake and think why me? Why this situation? When sometimes you put yourself in that situation.
What would you say to youngsters to steer them away from the street lifestyle?
You may see people in a Benz and from the streets, but you don’t know what it takes to get in that Benz. There is a time period for everything. I’ve seen dudes who had money from the streets who made money during their teen years and are now doing 20 years in prison. Once he gets out of jail, he’ll have it hard because he didn’t go to school or get a skill. He has no options.
What do you hope your legacy will be?
I want somebody to say Future is the reason I’m sitting right here. I’m here because I took a whole other route. I want to represent change. … You can do it your way and make it as long as you’re doing it the right way.
