Oprah Interviews Chris Bosh, Dwyane Wade and LeBron James
After catching flack for her sit down with the Kardashians, Oprah Winfrey is venturing into much safer territory with her interviews. The OWN creator announced Tuesday that she will interview the NBA’s Miami Heat, including the NBA Finals MVP LeBron James and his teammates, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh.
Taking place at their ball dribbling home of the American Airlines Arena, Winfrey will talk with the world champs bout the challenges leading up to their historic win, their friendships and the women in their lives. Bosh is married, and his wife, Adrienne, recently gave birth to their first child; James is engaged to his longtime girlfriend Savannah; and Wade is dating actress Gabrielle Union. The episode that’s set to air Sunday, July 1 will tell the team’s story of redemption after being bashed for being defeated last season.
Taking to her Facebook page, Oprah released a statement commenting on her time with the best in basketball.
“Talked to the HEAT yesterday,” said Oprah. Wow was that interesting — getting to talk to LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh just a few days after their great NBA victory. Was sitting in front of my TV during Game 4 of the finals and thought if they win, this will be triple sweet for them after all the naysayers and hoopla surrounding last year’s defeat.”
“It was clear to me, and will be to you too, that this Championship is not just about basketball but so much more,” she added. “We talked about how sweet it is to prove ‘I told you so’ to yourself.”
You can catch Oprah and the Heat when “Next Chapter” airs this Sunday at 8 p.m. EST on OWN. –danielle canada
