LAS VEGAS — Steve Harvey wanted badly to ensure that the 10th anniversary of the Ford Hoodie Awards would be unforgettable. That was accomplished when he appointed New Edition to open up the show and had R&B icon Stevie Wonder close it out. And that was just part of it. In an effort to provide some deserved, long overdue shine to highly accomplished members of the urban community through his Hoodie Awards, Harvey gathered a constellation of stars to come to Sin City’s MGM Grand hotel to celebrate the creme de la creme of the urban community
With more than 50,000 African Americans from around the country flooding the many activities surrounding this premiere annual summer awards program, Harvey got a brigade of entertainers and urban sophisticates to provide star power, including close friend and radio rival Rickey Smiley, Morris Chesnut, Tasha Smith, Tichina Arnold, Donny McClurkin, Micahel Jai White, George Wallace, Earthquake, Tamara Tunie, Stephanie Mills, Anthony Anderson, Kirk Franklin, Anthony Hamilton, Bobby Brown, Judge Greg Mathis, Salli Richardson and so many others, especially members of Harvey’s morning show team, Nephew Tommy and Shirley Strawberry.
