“American Idol” has been at the top of the rumor mill this week, with recent stories claiming that Nicki Minaj is in negotiations to become a new judge on the venerable show. But now reports claim that rap megastar Kanye West is now at the top of the list of potential judges for the show.
“American Idol” had quite the cast shake up this year, when hosts Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler both resigned from their roles as judges, leaving two empty slots for the shows three judge’s seats.
But music icon Mariah Carey has already taken one seat after she recently signed an $18 million contract with the show. And now it looks like West may be taking that third spot.
According to TMZ, the show’s producers reached out to West about signing him on as a judge and the G.O.O.D music emcee has expressed interest.
However, sources claim that Yeezy is “on the fence” about accepting the gig. The sources say that if ‘Ye does come on board, producers will at least match his salary with Carey’s.
And that’s not all. West and Minaj may end up judging alongside Carey and longtime judge Randy Jackson as producers are supposedly considering having a fourth judge on the show.
We’re not exactly sure yet either if “A.I.” is a good fit for ‘Ye or if he even has the time for it considering all of his other ventures. But below are four reasons off the top of our head why we’d watch (at least for a little while) if West did join the show. – nicholas robinson
