Halle Berry: The Black Millionaire Blueprint for Success

The following year, Berry solidified and enhanced her growing fame when she was cast as Eddie Murphy’s love interest in Boomerang, which, as PEOPLE mag pointed out, it was one of the few times that Murphy was evenly matched on screen. And when you think about Murphy’s man blockbuster pictures, including 48 HRS, Trading Places, Beverly Hills Cop, The Golden Child and the timeless Coming to America, the publication’s claims have merit.

Berry’s fame continued to rise despite a few box-office bombs, including in 1994, when Berry played sexy secretary “Sharon Stone” in The Flinstones as well as the forgettable but high-profile film The Last Boy Scout opposite Bruce Willis and Damon Wayans. She next had a highly publicized costarring role with Academy Award-winning actress Jessica Lange in the adoption drama Losing Isaiah in 1995. Though the movie received mixed reviews, Berry didn’t let that slow her down, and continued down her path to super-stardom. In 1998, she received critical success when she starred as a street smart young woman who takes up with a struggling politician in Bulworth opposite Warren Beaty in 1995.
