The Best Cities for Generation Y
Generation Y, the Millenials and Generation Next, are all names used to characterize people in the 18-29 age range that are the children of baby boomers and Generation Xers. While Millenials in this country are said to be technologically savvy, having grown up in the times of inventions like mp3 players, tablet computers and smartphones, millenials are also said to be struggling to find jobs and many find themselves broke. Collectively this generation has a 13.5 percent unemployment rate among people aged 20 to 24, while the 25 to 29 year-olds see a rate of 9.3 percent. With that in mind, salary website PayScale.com teamed up with Millenial Branding research firm to determine what cities would best suit millenials looking for work. Based on their study, there are 10 cities in particular where the generation can flock to find high median salaries, low commute times and wage growth.
