In 1989, Madonna’s signed an endorsement deal with Pepsi and the soft drink giant used her hit song, “Like A Prayer,” in it’s commercials. But when Madonna released the controversial video for the song, which tackled religion and racism, and featured her falling in love with a black Jesus, Pepsi dropped her amidst a backlash from the Catholic church. However, Madonna kept the $5 million she received from the deal.
