Paris Hilton Under Fire for Anti-Gay Tirade; Other Celebrities' Homophobic Rants

Celebrity hotel heiress Paris Hilton is seeking a public relations asylum after comments she made about homosexuals were secretly recorded and spilled to the media.

On cab ride in New York earlier in September, Paris can be heard saying, “Gay guys are the horniest people in the world. They’re disgusting. Dude, most of them probably have AIDS.”

Unbeknownst to her, the cabbie had a recording device, either on his phone or another electronic mechanism on his person, and clicked it it on just in time to capture Hilton’s homophobic tirade, thedrudgenews.com.

Hilton, the heir to an immense Hilton hotel empire, was riding in the taxi with a gay friend when he began to describe the use of Grindr, a popular social website that homosexuals patrnonize to find and hook up with sexual partners.

Hilton responds with disdain and disgust: “Ewwww … gay guys are the horniest people in the world. Most of them probably have AIDS. I would be so scared if I was a gay guy. You’ll like die of AIDS.”

After Hilton was drenched under a thundershower of criticism for her off-the-cuff comments, Hilton’s rep has hastily scrambled to mop up behind the blond bubblehead:

“Paris Hilton’s comments were to express that it is dangerous for anyone to have unprotected sex that could lead to a life threatening disease,” the statement reads, according to the HuffPost. “The conversation became heated, after a close gay friend told her in a cab ride, a story about a gay man who has AIDS and is knowingly having unprotected sex. He also discussed a website that encourages random sex by gay men with strangers.”

The rep continues: “As she was being shown the website her comments were in reference to those people promoting themselves on the site. The cab driver who recorded this, only provided a portion of the conversation,” it says. “It was not her intent to make any derogatory comments about all gays.”

“Paris Hilton is a huge supporter of the gay community and would never purposefully make any negative statements about anyone’s sexual orientation.”

As Mitt Romney has found out to his chagrin, it’s much harder to mop of the mess than to prevent spillage of racist, classist or homophobic comments in the first place.

Hilton is far from the only celebrity to make homophobic statements that reached the public. Below are other big-name or former A-listers who made comments deemed anti-gay.

Mel Gibson:

“They take it up the a** … this is only for taking a s***,” he said, according to the HuffPost. “With this look, who’s going to think I’m gay? I don’t lend myself to that type of confusion. Do I look like a homosexual? Do I talk like them? Do I move like them?”
