Gunplay Says He Was Attacked by 50 Cent’s Security
While some celebrities had a snooze-worthy time at the 2012 BET Hip Hop Awards, a member of Rick Ross’ crew may have had the most heart pounding time of the night. Rapper Gunplay, formerly of Ross’ group Triple C’s, apparently missed a heated altercation between his “Bawse” and his rival, Young Jeezy. Video footage has since surfaced showing a scuffle that includes the shattering of a mirror and a shirtless Ross huffing and puffing with anger.
Following that, however, there was an apparent brawl between Gunplay and members of 50 Cent’s G-Unit crew that ended with him in handcuffs. As Amir Shaw previously reported: “Rick Ross affiliated rapper Gunplay was involved in a fight with 50 Cent’s crew. Reportedly, five people, including 50 Cent’s artist Kidd Kidd, jumped Gunplay. After the fight, Gunplay attempted to run into 2 Chainz’s trailer but was arrested by police.”
Gunplay has since taken to Power 105 FM’s “The Breakfast Club” to detail exactly what happened Saturday night. “First of all, I’m not going to say the donkey’s name [referring to 50] because I’m not going to ruin a career [that’s] already ruined,” said Gunplay. “We are gonna call him donkey because he’s the donkey of the day. The donkey walks over with eight other donkeys. I was about to go catch my ride and police told me I couldn’t leave the trailers.”
“I turn around and see the donkey with eight more donkeys and it was either me jump the barrier and run, or stand, pull up my pants and knuckle it out with the donkeys. So he walks up to me with about eight donkeys, he nods to one of the donkeys to set it off and we rumbled. I stood up in the paint like a real G is suppose to with five bodyguards that is trained to kill a human with one finger.”
Gunplay later said the fight was broken up by police with pepper spray.
If Gunplay’s battle with G-Unit seems random, it’s actually not considering that 50 Cent and Rick Ross have had issues for years. 50, who has the nine bullet wounds to back up his street cred, has taken issue with the gangsta persona of the Miami emcee, who previously worked as a corrections officer. 50 previously posed with Ross’ baby’s mother for a Smooth magazine cover and previously flew his son to Las Vegas to watch Floyd Mayweather’s boxing match.
