What are the new fall looks for eye shadow and lip gloss colors?
This fall try to focus more on rich tones that add depth and play with textures with both lipsticks and lip glosses. With eye shadows, I want to use tones and techniques that really accentuate the eye shape.
Outside of being able to create a fabulous look, what should clients expect out of a makeup artist?
A makeup artist should provide a boost of confidence. A client should walk away feeling elevated.
How do you keep your business relevant to the trends and changes in society?
I try to listen to my clients and remain open to feedback; I believe that is the best approach. I also like to incorporate current trends while at the same time infusing my own personal touch. That’s the part that I enjoy most about makeup — that it gives you room to explore and be creative.
What tips can you give anyone who wants to be in your area of business?
I would say that perfecting your craft is very important. You must be continuously learning and growing. Practice whenever you can. Shadow a makeup artist who is already established and willing to take you under their wing. Most of all remain confident throughout the different stages of your career.
What does team work mean in your business?
Team work means supporting another cohort in your area, whether it is hair, fashion, t.v. or bridal. This builds a network and helps each other grow, it’s vital to your success.
What projects do you have in the works that we should be aware of?
I have an editorial shoot coming up with photographer, Chris Wineinger and makeup for a Houston based arts and entertainment publication.
