Sunday Program: Are You Ashamed to Express Your Religion in the Workplace?

I think you can tell who you can and can’t talk religion with in the workplace. Nobody wants to be accused of “pushing” their religion onto other people who may not share the same beliefs. The reality is, we’re in a society where religion is so constantly attacked, and you can be scared to talk about it around people who aren’t like-minded. Just like some Christians are very radical, but many atheists are very aggressive and you find yourself wanting to avoid potential arguments that may change the dynamic of your work relationship. I worked with a guy some months ago and we got along great, and we never discussed religion. Once I left that job, I started noticing some very condescending remarks towards religion on his facebook page. This offended me because I respect atheism as a choice of free will, and didn’t feel as though I was receiving the same respect as a Christian. I’m glad I didn’t know how he felt earlier, because otherwise I don’t think we would have gotten along as well.
