By no means is Drake unaccomplished. At just 25, Drake is hip-hop’s biggest new star. He’s lived the dream of many young kids and outdone many of his counterparts, as he produced two platinum albums, headlined his own national tour and snagged lucrative endorsement deals and movie roles. But for all of his fame, there’s one thing this new-school hip-hop leader hadn’t done, and that’s graduate from high school — that is, until now.
The Young Money emcee began taking high school courses five months ago and yesterday, the former high school dropout took to Twitter to announce that he’d completed his course work and finally received his high school diploma.
“97% on my final exam. 88% in the course. One of the greatest feelings in my entire life. As of tonight I have graduated high school!” Drake tweeted proudly.
He then thanked his teacher for helping him along the way to achieving his academic dream.
“Thank you to my teacher Kim Janzen for spending the last 5 months working tirelessly with me!! OVO SOUND,” tweeted Drake.
Drake’s fans poured in their congratulations to the emcee, and even Gayle King shared some kind words for the high school graduate.
“@Drake congratulations to YOU! 97 out of 100 excellent go to the head of the class,” tweeted King.
And, like Drake’s many supporters, we too, must say we’re proud of him for earning his diploma and setting a great example for all of his young fans to stay in school and for his older fans, to let them know that it’s never too late to finish your education.
