Hip-hop president Jay-Z and U.S. President Barack Obama have become good friends over the last years, further bridging the gap between hip-hop and politics and leaving many wondering what their friendship is like. In a recent radio interview, President Obama finally opened up about his friendship with Jay-Z and revealed that he’s become something of a parenting guru to Jay and gives him advice on how to raise his daughter, Blue Ivy Carter.
“I made sure that Jay-Z was helping Beyoncé out [with the baby], and not leaving it all with the mom and mother-in-law,” Obama explained to Cleveland’s Z107.9.
Jay and Obama have been making headlines as of late, as Jay has been hosting fundraisers and releasing videos in support of President Obama’s re-election campaign. And it’s not just Jay, his famous wife, Beyoncé, is also a part of the campaign support, and Obama says that his family and the Carters have become quite close over the years.
“I’ve gotten to know these guys over the first several years,” Obama explained. “They’re good people. They’re down to earth. Beyoncé could not be sweeter to Michelle and the girls. So they’re good friends. They really are down-to-earth folks. We talk about the same things I talk about with all my friends.”
