Once upon a time, 50 Cent and Floyd Mayweather were involved in hip-hop and boxing’s biggest “bromance.” They took Instagram pictures together, hung with Justin Bieber, watched Ray J get in ridiculous fights with Fabolous and even visited each other in jail and in the hospital. They were the perfect devoted bros and we loved every facet of their bro love. But, sadly, their deep, manly, platonic bond has been waning in recent months and yesterday 50 announced that he was no longer a part of their famous crew, The Money Team.
50 made the announcement of his split with The Money Team via his Twitter page.
“I’m no longer apart or down with TMT promotions. SMSaudio,” Fif tweeted.
The rapper then announced that he was selling all of his Money Team belongings to fans.
“If anyone wants a money team jacket I’m selling mine for a dollar. The nap back hat comes with it. That’s a fare price. SMSaudio,” he tweeted.
Signs of trouble between 50 and Mayweather began showing in September, after Mayweather’s latest jail stint ended.
“Me and Floyd is always gonna be cool. [But] he is different. [There’s been] a different side of Floyd coming out of the pen. That’s all,” said 50 at the time.
That same month, 50 revealed that he was launching a boxing promotion company with Mayweather’s rival, Manny Pacquiao. And, although 50 doesn’t get into details about his fallout with Mayweather, he does say that money was at the root of his leaving The Money Team.
“I move the fighters to SMSpromotion ’cause the other half of the money team didnt put up there $MONEY$,” he wrote.
