Mariah Carey and Jeezy Release Obama Tribute Songs
Just hours after President Obama secured the 2012 election, the internet is being flooded with tribute songs to 44th President of The United States. In 2008 Young Jeezy had millions of Obama supporters chanting that their “President Was Black” marking the first time a black man had been elected Commander In Chief.” This year however, the southern rapper is taking a different route and stating the obvious; we [Democrats] did it again. “To every ghetto in the world. In 2008 we celebrated history with “My President” is black. In 2012, I want Barack to know we got his back and “We Done It Again.” We don’t wait for history, we claim victory!,” said Jeezy about the track.
In a similar fashion Mariah Carey’s “tribute song” has been released. Early Wednesday after Obama received the 270 electoral votes he need to secure a second term in office, Carey’s longtime friend Jermaine Durpri took to his Global14 blog to premiere a track titled “Bring It On Home.” On it, Carey and a choir sing about the Commander In Chief ‘bringing it on home’ and winning another four years in office. “We just everyday people trying to make it through the pain,” state the lyrics. “We unintentionally hurt each other, playing silly games/But when it all comes down to win or lose, don’t give up the fight/ Cause strength is what we need, and love can save our lives/So Bring it On Home.” Carey first debuted the song during an earlier Obama fundraiser.
