While her biological mother was strung out on crack and was a slave to other addictions, Cole was raised as a foster child adopted by Yvonne Cole. Keyshia’s first recordings were with MC Hammer at the age of 12 and early in the new millennium, she appeared on tracks by various Bay Area artists, including D’Wayne Wiggins of Tony! Toni! Toné!.
