Sinaloa Cartel shootout

Last week one of the most powerful Mexican drug cartels, the Sinaloa Cartel, made international headlines when beauty queen Maria Susana Flores was killed in a shootout between cartel rivals. Flores may have “belonged” to the cartel; the beauty may have fired rounds from an AK47 that was found next to her body inside a car.

“She was in the criminal group that clashed with army service members,” Marco Antonio Higuera Gomez, the Sinaloa state prosecutor, said.

We now know the Sinaloa Cartel is not just Mexico’s problem; the cartel has found a home in Chicago.
