Shane Battier — Shane Battier, like his NBA counterpart Grant Hill, starred and won a title with the Duke Bluedevils. He was born to a black father and white mother in Birmingham, Mich, a wealthy suburb of Detroit. As a child he was treated as black by the white kids at his private schoo,l and as white by the black kids on his AAU team. No one, however, is making fun of him now, especially since he helped bring a title to the Miami Heat in the spring of 2012.
