Beyoncé fans lash out at Wendy Williams
A shock jock-turned-TV host is drumming up controversy again, this time for her comments about a pop superstar. Wendy Williams, who’s made no bones about her feelings for Beyoncé, sparked outrage this week when she commented on the singer’s upcoming HBO documentary. As previously reported, the network is releasing a documentary chronicling intimate moments of the songstress’s life including raw footage of her with hubby Jay-Z.
On Tuesday, Williams didn’t hold back and explained that she, too, would be watching when it premieres Feb. 27, but with some extra assistance. “I am a Beyoncé fan,” said Williams. “I’m gonna watch her upcoming documentary because fortunately one of the TVs in our kitchen has closed captioning so I’ll be able to understand what she says. You know Beyoncé can’t talk! She sounds like she has a fifth grade education.”
The comment prompted applause and “oohs” and “aahs” from the audience.
On Twitter, however, Williams was quickly put on blast by angry fans of the ex Destiny’s Child star.
“Wendy Williams know [sic] she wrong for that comment she made bout Beyoncé!” wrote a fan online. ”
“Yes, she was! With her hideous a–,” chimed in another.
Williams has not retracted her statement.
