Michelle Obama nominated for a Grammy
While Kanye West, Jay-Z and Frank Ocean have already been lauded for their Grammy award nominations, the first lady of the United States is also up for a coveted gramophone. Michelle Obama was nominated this year in the Spoken-Word-Album category for the audio version of her book, American Grown. The category has Mrs. Obama going head-to-head against Bill Clinton, whose audio tome, Back to Work: Why We Need Smart Government for a Strong Economy earned him a nod; and Ellen Degeneres for Seriously … I’m Kidding.
Although Michelle only has one Grammy nomination, it puts her ahead of pop superstar Justin Bieber and supergroup One Direction who were shut out from this year’s awards. The 55th Annual Grammy Awards air on CBS on Feb. 10.
In related news, the first lady and family were spotted at the annual Christmas in Washington concert on Sunday, Dec. 9. The event featured performances from Korean sensation Psy, Demi Lovato, and Diana Ross and benefited the National Childrens Medical Center. Hosted by comedian Conan O’Brien, we’ll get out first look at the successful celebration when it airs Dec. 21.
