Olympian Angelo Taylor honored at Men of Power and Influence Awards

Angelo Taylor was among a host of  award recipients  who were honored for “their achievements and for utilizing their reach and resources to edify those whose lives they touch,” says Munson Steed, CEO/Publisher rolling out magazine, at the Men of Power and Influence Awards sponsored by Ford.

Two-time Olympic gold medalist Angelo Taylor’s race to win started when he won the NCAA track title in 1998, while a student at Georgia Tech. Next, he won bronze in the 400-meter hurdles at the 1999 World Championships and gold as part of the 4×400-meter relay team. It was the 2000 Sydney Olympics where he shocked the world winning gold in both the 400 meter hurdles and as a member of the 4×400 meter men’s relay squad. Taylor was a poster child for US Track and Field, taking publicity tours in New York and visiting soldiers in Iraq. His most recent feats were securing a bronze medal at the 2011 U.S. Outdoor Championships and silver at the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London for the 4x400m relay.

Supermodel Tyson Beckford and TV personality and author Toya Wright co-hosted the event celebrating this diverse group of industry leaders which was held at the Twelve Ballroom at Atlantic Station in Atlanta on Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012.
