Doing stand-up at night to earn extra cash, Shepherd quickly began catching the attention of the “powers that be” in comedy, eventually earning a legitimate acting job on the TV series Cleghorne!, which starred the now forgotten “Saturday Night Live” cast member Ellen Cleghorne.
